Momentum Indy Mass Ave Crit Win for Mejias

Day 1, Mass Ave Crit is one of the longest-running urban bike races in the Midwest, set in the heart of the Mass Ave Cultural Arts District featuring the some of the best shopping, bars and restaurants the city has to offer. Flat, fast and technical with 5 corners, the squad of Marlies Mejias, Emily Ehrlich, Sofia Arreola and Dani Morshead raced a perfect race, forcing the other teams to work hard. The final lap the team launched Mejias to a stunning victory. “The team rode so well; I am proud of our race plan and how everyone executed perfectly. I did not have to worry about the race until my job at the finish.” Said Mejias. “Every win is a team win, and I was happy I could deliver.”

Day 2, Indy Crit is the family-fun day in University Park, one square city block of greenspace just three blocks north of the iconic Soldiers & Sailors Monument. The festival features delicious food and drink, kids and family activities, and expo among thousands of cheering fans! The race was fast and furious, with futile attempts at solo attacks from Virginia’s Blue Ridge TWENTY24, L39ion and LA Sweat.

The squad scooped up some primes but couldn’t beat the strong duo of Ryan and Schneider in the closing turns, but Mejias sprinted to a strong 3rd place finish.

“We have raced such a successful season thus far; it’s given us an opportunity to promote the Virginia’s Blue Ridge region nationwide at so many amazing events. The partnership with destination marketing organization Virginia’s Blue Ridge and Virginia Tourism Corporation has been a very positive experience, we are seeing cycling flourishing in the state.” Commented General Manager, Nicola Cranmer.
